The Farm

Barn Blooms is located along the shores of Lake Ontario in a part of New York that is known for its apple growing. The majority of the flowers are started from seed and grown in the field. They are hand-harvested throughout the season. Flowers are not the only thing at the farm. My husband Kyle is part owner of an apple farm and nursery. To the west and east of the flowers, we have high-density apple plantings. We also have a flock of chickens!

The Project Funded

We used the funds to purchase a transplanter to increase the capacity and efficiency of the farm. The transplanter helps to sow seedlings a lot faster than doing it by hand.

The Project Impact

I used to crawl on my hands and knees for hours planting thousands of flower transplants. The grant helped me purchase a transplanter, cutting my planting labor dramatically and letting me sow seedlings faster, which brings my business to the next level.
