About the For Farmers Movement
America’s small farms are disappearing.
We’re here to change that.
The For Farmers Movement strengthens connections between eaters and farmers through nominations, storytelling, and direct grants that support practical needs on working farms.
Small actions -- nominations, donations, participation -- translate into real improvements on real farms across the country.
The Movement makes it easier for people to support hardworking farmers in meaningful and practical ways, while helping farmers access funding that strenghtens their operations and communities.
Why This Work Matters
Small and mid-sized farms play an essential role in local food systems, regional economies, and resilient communities. Yet many operate with limited financial flexibility and face increasing pressures from rising costs, climate variability, labor challenges, and market constraints.
Even modest funding can help farmers improve efficiency, solve operational challenges, and continue producing food for their communities.
The For Farmers Movement exists to help close this gap by connecting people directly to the farmers who grow their food.
How the Movement Works
Participation often begins with a nomination.
Nominations help farmers feel seen and connect them with grant opportunities and other forms of support.
Through small donations and community participation, funding is directed to practical projects that strengthen farm operations.
Programs, events, and storytelling help deepen connections between farmers and the communities they feed.
Together, these actions create meaningful impact across many farms.
Mission
To make it easy for people to support hardworking farmers in meaningful and practical ways.
Vision
A future where small and mid-sized farmers are visible, valued, and well-supported by the people they feed.
Founder
We’re a movement of eaters, farmers, chefs, and everyday people who believe that when farmers thrive, we all thrive.
The For Farmers Movement was founded by Dana DiPrima in 2022 with a simple belief: if eaters understood what small farmers actually do, and what they're up against, they's want to support them. What started with a six-grant experiment has grown into 100 new grants every year, a podcast in the top 3% globally, and a community of thousands who show up for farmers every week.
Dana runs the Movement as a solo founder, alongside a dedicated team of volunteers and grant reviewers. It is lean by design, so that every dollar raised goes directly to farmers.
