For Farmers

The For Farmers Movement supports small and mid-sized farms through direct grants, nominations, and programs designed to support and strengthen farm operations.

Farmers across the country use grants to solve practical challenges, improve efficiency, and continue producing for their communities.

Grant Opportunities
Basic Grants

The For Farmers Movement awards 100+ grants a year that range from $500 to $1000, with up to $3000 for collaborative grants. Grants support projects like infrastructure, equipment, innovation, loss recovery and more. We have supported plenty of fencing, irrigation, cold storage, soil improvements, wash stations, repairs and more.

Transformational Grants

Larger grants ranging from $5000 to $10,000 support projects with meaningful impact on farm operations and the surrounding community.

Transformational grants are offered by invitation only to those who submit a concept through the basic grants program.

How Grant Nominations Work

Nominations are the starting point for Basic and Transformational grant opportunities.

Farmers are typically nominated by customers, neighbors, family or community members, or social media followers. It's a great idea to share the nomination opportunity with your own community so that they can have a meaningful way to support your farm and follow your story.

Farmers who are nominated receive information about grant opportunities, deadlines, and Q&A sessions to help with grant applications.

Engaging your community is our recommendation, but you may also nominate yourself.

Who is Eligible

The For Farmers Movement supports small and mid-sized farms in the United States and its territories. We fund farms that are producing for sale to their communities. While we value homesteaders and animal sanctuaries, we do not fund those operations.

Additional Opportunities for Support
Wish Lists For Farmers

Over 100 farmers have submitted wish lists for items they need on their farms. The For Farmers community shops those lists and sends items directly to farmers. It's a great way to give your own community a way to support you.

On the first Friday of every month, For Farmers goes live on IG to highlight a Wish List or two and to purchase a few key items.

Friend of a Farmer Choice Awards

In May, farmers submit a short video describing a project they would like to complete on their farm. The For Farmers community votes to help direct grant funding to the projects with the most votes. In 2025, the Choice awards garnered over 20,000 votes.

Participation in the Choice Awards does not require a nomination. We host an annual "How to Make an Effective Short Video" workshop.

Meet the Farmers

We have funded 292 farm projects on small and mid-sized farms in 48 states and Puerto Rico. We award at least 100 grants a year from $500 to $10,000. Farmers apply from a wide range of geographies, including rural, urban and suburban farms, and across many production types.
