The Farm
Yesteryear Farm is a pasture based, micro dairy. We provide nutrient dense raw milk to our community while passionately advocating for intimacy with food. Ultimately, without relationships small farms fail. Without relationship food producers inch towards prioritizing profit over nutrient density. Relationship keeps both sides accountable and revitalizes relational commerce of yesteryear.
The Project Funded
We were awarded the $500 grant to help us buy fencing materials to fence in an unfenced wooded section of our property that will provide shade and cover for our herd in the heat of the summer or in the cold windy days of the winter!
Project Impact
The For Farmers Grant provides us the means, in a tight season, to improve our animals quality of life and thus our bottom line. As with most animals, comfort is a driving factor in their condition/ production. By offering better shade we expect them to maintain weight more efficiently by grazing throughout the day instead of bedding down, and we expect their production to be more consistent instead of experiencing dramatic dips on hot/sunny days or cold rainy days in the winter.
