The Farm
WIT Farm is a small, family owned farm based in central Ohio. Kyle and Jamie Pritchard are first generation farmers (well...first generation since their great grandparents) focused on humanely raised livestock, healthy perennial pastures and honoring the meat provided by the livestock. The farm has two philosophies: the farm's name, WIT, stands for Whatever it Takes and Local. Pasture Raised. Loved.
The Project Funded
We will be using our grant to place water closer to our poultry livestock. When we moved to the farm two years ago I had to fill waterers from the kitchen sink! These days I have an outside water source, but it requires filling up a 50 gallon drum to travel to the birds. Once we have a water source by the poultry operation we have an automatic watering system we can hook up.
Project Impact
Truly this grant will save me hours of time each day. During peak season I am waiting to fill 200 gallons of water, waiting for 200 gallons to drain into the waterers...twice a day. A traditional garden hose can only pump out so much water per minute. It was taking me an hour or better just to deal with water each day. With the water source in place and hooked up to an automatic watering system my time spent watering and feeding will go down to mere minutes.
