The Farm
West End Farm is a woman-owned, diversified specialty crop farm in rural southeast Nebraska. On one acre of land, the farm produces over 50 different types of vegetables, berries, melons, and herbs, as well as honey and value-added products. West End Farm sells primarily through their CSA program and two farmers markets.
The Project Funded
This grant will be used toward the purchase of a paperpot transplanting system to improve labor efficiency on the farm. This tool will reduce transplanting time, improve crop stands, and increase production. This investment helps make small-scale, regenerative vegetable farming more efficient, sustainable, and physically manageable.
Project Impact
The paperpot transplanter saves time and labor, allowing the farm to grow food more efficiently while improving soil health. This increased efficiency helps strengthen the farm’s long-term viability and ensures a more consistent supply of fresh, locally grown food for the community.
