The Farm

Uplands combines a working farm with extensive perennial gardens in the Catskills. We raise broiler chickens and seasonal lamb, prioritizing rotational grazing, soil health, and biodiversity. Through direct sales, farmers markets, and gardening workshops, we build community and connect people to the land.

The Project Funded

Uplands plans to pilot a small sheep grazing program by purchasing portable electric fencing and a solar energizer. This equipment will allow us to test multi-species rotational grazing alongside our existing horses and poultry, improving pasture health, reducing weed pressure, and building soil organic matter.

Project Impact

This grant will help us test multi-species grazing alongside our rotation of icelandic horses, deepening our regenerative impact on the land. Healthier pastures mean improving pasture health, reducing weed pressure, and building soil organic matter. This translates to a more resilient farm. As we grow, we'll share what we learn and add grass-fed lamb to our direct-to-consumer offerings, strengthening our local foodshed.
