The Farm
Spring Creek Towers Farm is a 3/4-acre urban farm in Brooklyn, NY. It provides access to fresh produce, nutrition education, civic engagement opportunities, and green career exploration to residents of one of the largest federally assisted public housing development in the States.
The Project Funded
The For Farmers Grant will allow the Spring Creek Towers Farm to purchase a miter saw. With this new equipment, our farmers will construct seed-starting tables, pack-and-wash stations, a community-led farm stand, and other infrastructure that will broaden our reach and deepen our impact.
Project Impact
The For Farmers Grant will dramatically expand our service capacity. With the new infrastructure funded through the For Farmers Movement, our farm will be able to grow over 6,000 pounds of produce valued at over $20,000. This food will be distributed-- at low- or no-cost-- back into our community, advancing the Spring Creek Towers Farm's mission of promoting food-based health and community wellbeing.
