The Farm
Schul Farmstead is a pesticide-free vegetable, herb, microgreen, and flower farm in Western New York. Our one-acre farm uses regenerative practices to grow heirloom varieties for sale at farmers markets and through our CSA.
The Project Funded
The grant will off-set costs to build a seedling nursery to increase the protected growing space available to start heirloom variety vegetable, herb, and flower seedlings for my farm and seedling sale. From July to October, the space will double as a place to cure onions, garlic, and winter squash.
Project Impact
This doubles the space to grow seedlings for my farm and increases the seedlings I can grow for our seedling sale. From March to April, I currently move seedlings from basement to porch to basement every day. Having a nursery will save 1-2 hours/daily for this one-person operation.
