The Farm
We are a family farm currently working out a plan that will allow the 4th, 5th and 6th generations to carry on the legacy of the current farm. We raise beef cattle and sheep and grow crops for feed.
The Project Funded
This grant will help me purchase equipment that can be used in a variety of configurations that will help me with sheep handling. I'll be able to use the same equipment to set up a working facility for vaccinating ewes, lambing jugs for post-birth bonding and a creep pen for growing lambs.
Project Impact
I've recently added the sheep enterprise to our farm to diversify income streams and add opportunities for my grandkids to be a part of raising livestock in a way that is a bit safer than working with cattle. I also work with some of my neighbor girls to help them learn farm and life skills as well as help to build their confidence as young women.
