The Farm
Killdeer Farms seeks to build good old-fashioned community and rehab an abandoned urban parcel through farming. Husband and wife team Scott and Christine Calvin grow cut flowers, and heirloom pumpkins plus lavender, which they use to produce a bespoke line of aromatherapy bath and body goods like soaps and hand cream.
The Project Funded
With their mini grant, Scott and Christine will expand their lavender crop and produce even more of their coveted essential oil and all of the value-added products that come along with it.
The Project Impact
After years of drought, thirty inches of rain devastated our in-ground plantings, but our lavender thrived. The grant helps us expand that lavender crop and the five products we make from it by hand, from essential oil to soap, leaning into what this land wants to grow.
