The Farm
Multifaceted farm with goats, pigs, chickens, turkeys, geese and maremma guardian dogs, as well as produce and flowers. We sell meat and veggies direct to consumers, as well as sell livestock to other farmers and kids looking to get started in the farming lifestyle.
The Project Funded
Helping with cost of straw, heat plates and heat lamps for farrowing 4-H fair piglets in the dead of winter in Northern Michigan.
Hangry Hen Farms also received a For Farmers People's Choice runner-up award to help with an electrical upgrade on the farm. This project was selected by other farmers because of its urgency.
The Project Impact
Farrowing 4-H fair piglets in a Northern Michigan winter means extra straw, heat plates, and heat lamps on top of feed and breeding costs. The grant helped cover those winter farrowing supplies, keeping January litters warm and local kids supplied with quality fair pigs.
