The Farm
Gathering Springs Farm is a diversified vegetable and flower operation. We grow over 75 varieties of vegetables, herbs and berries using organic methods. We also free range a flock of 200 laying hens using weekly rotational grazing as a way to fertilize our soil and keep our ladies healthy!
The Project Funded
We are looking to add a large field of thornless blackberries to our operation. The purpose is to diversify our income streams and also create an avenue to invite more of our community to interact with the food they eat and get to know their farmers.
The Project Impact
Our farm is very close to the dense urban areas surrounding Washington DC. We are very aware of how important it is for people (especially children) to connect what is on their plate with farming. We see this as a great way to invite more people to make that connection.
