The Farm
Dog Star Farm is focused on soil building, sustainable vegetable production. Located outside of Ann Arbor, Michigan we serve the local community with fresh seasonal produce. Using organic practices such as cover cropping, permanent raised beds and deep mulching we grow culturally resonant, delicious vegetables and save open-pollinated seed.
The Project Funded
The For Farmers grant enables us to purchase a QLIPR System for our high tunnel tomatoes (our most profitable crop). With metal hooks and protective clips, the system can be utilised again and again. Thus reducing plastic waste and making the tomato trellising process more efficient.
Project Impact
The QLIPR System halves the time taken to trellis high tunnel tomatoes. Implementing this system will save us 72 hours over the course of the season and allows us to maximise profitability and reduce strain on our bodies. We can farm better for longer!
