The Farm
Boersma Family Roots is a small regenerative ag farm that promotes the use of organic and heirloom genetics. We do not use chemical/synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. We honor and enhance our existing biodiversity on our farm. We supply veggies to our local markets, schools, cooperative grocery store, senior meals on wheels, some restaurants, our local food pantry and free fridge.
The Project Funded
To purchase a new washing machine to make a DIY version of a commerical lettuce spinner to reduce the labor/time it takes to process and package lettuce.
Project Impact
The impact seems like it's such a small thing but this makes hours of difference at the end of the night. Hand cranked systems when your processing hundreds of pounds of lettuce is exhausting. We also live in an area where weather is unpredictable and we work in the rain and snow A LOT. The more we are able to spin in less time means more lettuce for the community we serve!
