The Farm
Blue Heron Farm is a ten-acre regenerative orchard and diversified farm in California’s Eastern Sierra. We steward more than one thousand fruit trees, vegetables, and flowers, operate a thriving U-Pick and CSA, and are building a flagship model for resilient, community-rooted agriculture in one of the state’s most remote valleys.
The Project Funded
We will establish a pollinator, edible, and medicinal hedgerow to increase biodiversity, support our orchard, and expand community education. Native plants, fruiting shrubs, and medicinal species will create habitat, introduce new foods to CSA members, and help visitors learn how ecology, food, and wellness intersect on a regenerative farm.
Project Impact
This grant supports a vital pollinator hedgerow that strengthens our farmscaping and ecological resilience. It also reintroduces forgotten food and medicinal plants, helping people reconnect with traditions and flavors not found in grocery stores. The hedgerow becomes a living bridge between ecology, culture, and the knowledge we are in danger of losing.
