The Farm

Bee Wild is a 3-generation family owned and operated honeybee farm in Gainesville Georgia. We specialize in doing small seasonal batches of our wild-crafted varietal honeys such as “Wildflower” and “Sourwood” as well as our new Wild Side line of hand-crafted infused honeys. You will find us at many of your local Metro-Atlanta area farmers markets where we provide a fun and exciting in person honey tasting experience!
We practice sustainable & chemical-free beekeeping and are proud members of 1% For The Planet. With that, we donate 1% of our annual revenue to organizations actively working to save the honeybee population. Come see us and bee our friend!

The Project Funded

We apply for this grant to give us the ability to improve the health and sustainability of our honeybee colonies. Our goal is to improve the health and immune systems of our honeybees by feeding them a natural probiotic. This would increase our honey production which would increase our supply. We also seek this capital to hire new employees to expand into more farmers markets in the Atlanta-Metro area as well as offering Urban Beekeeping Classes again to create greater outreach and education in our local community.

Project Impact

If we were awarded the grant it would allow us to implement the goal of improving the health and sustainability of our honeybees. We would achieve this by purchasing and implementing a highly rated and very effective probiotic that has shown to increase honeybee's immune systems. We would feed the bees intermittently this over a period of 6 months. With the health and vitality of our honeybees increasing so does the amount of honey that our bees produce, therefore, we can see an increase in honey production. We estimate this modestly at a 30% increase. This would greatly improve our profits and allow us to reinvest into the business which allows us greater outreach into the community via education on the vital role honeybees play in our ecosystem. We would be able to offer Urban Beekeeping Classes again.
