The Farm

Nestled among retired family farms, Ararat Acres is a small, family-run 7-acre farm raising chickens, ducks, meat rabbits, dairy goats, and forest-raised heritage pigs while developing a horsemanship program. We focus on sustainable, small-scale farming that reconnects people with local food and farm life.

The Project Funded

We are grateful to be awarded this grant to purchase electric fencing and supplies for our growing herd of Berkshire-Duroc pigs. Rotated through wooded acreage, the pigs thrive while enhancing soil health and supporting silvopasture practices, promoting sustainable, high-welfare farming and improved land management on our property.

Project Impact

The grant helps our small family team safely manage and rotate our growing herd of Berkshire-Duroc pigs, improving animal welfare and pasture health. Better-managed pigs yield higher-quality meat, supporting local families who lack space to raise their own, while modeling sustainable, small-scale livestock practices for the broader community.
