The Farm
Ad Astra Farms is an urban microfarm whose mission is to support the local food system in Prince George's and Charles Counties with sustainably grown produce, home garden consultation and education.
The Project Funded
Our project is two fold: first, to scale up from our current one-third acre plot to nearly 3 acres, and to obtain equipment for that transition. Second, we are working to use equipment purchased to establish a small tool library for true beginning farmers to needed rent equipment on a sliding scale.
The Project Impact
We are scaling from a third of an acre worked entirely by hand to nearly three acres. The grant purchased a seeder and sturdier tools for the transition, so we can grow more produce, serve more customers, and open the farm for on-farm education.
