4 Corners Worm Farm

Frank Dean Wendy Walker

Fall 2024

Colorado

The Farm

We raise Red Wiggler and European Nightcrawler composting worms. Selling our worm casting and worm farm kits at Farmers Markets in our region. At the same time educating the public about the benefits of vermicomposting to keep household waste out of landfills and produce the best
natural soil amendments

The Project Funded

Insulate the building above the old cistern that we currently raise the worms in.
To increase our capacity, while at the same time utilizing the geothermal benefits of the 25' deep constant 55 degree temperature of the cistern to limit the cost of heating and cooling of the new space.

Project Impact

Increased production of worms and castings by creating more usable space. But we feel more important than that, it gives us the ability to give tours and hold hands-on classes to schools and other groups, which are not feasible with our current infrastructure.
